Unsurprisingly, there have been a lot of complaints and repair requests for street lights that are not working throughout Cliffe, South Duffield and Lund.
The current procedure for getting these lights repaired is obviously woefully inadequate...so in an attempt to rectify this unacceptable situation, the Parish Council have signed up for a maintenance contract which means that all of the Parish Council's lights will be fitted with new bulbs (which will be replaced every two years), they also provide a repair service where they will repair a broken light within 7 days of it being reported to them.
This new contract seems to be a great solution and hopefully one that will continue.
We do have a LITTLE bit of a wait, as the new contract doesn't take effect until the 2nd January 2020...but hopefully from the New Year, you will start to see the work being carried out.
Not all of the street lights throughout the Parish are the responsibility of Cliffe Parish Council, some of them are the responsibility of North Yorkshire County Council. One day soon, I am hoping to include a map on the village website - www.cliffevillage.com with details of who is responsible for street light maintenance.
For NYCC owned lights - they can be reported here.
Whichever light is out, if you are unsure, you can still report it via the contact form on this website and I will raise a repair ticket to the relevant owner.
If you have any questions or concerns about this or anything else within the parish, there is a Parish Council meeting on Monday 9th December, 7:15pm at St. Andrew's Mission - everyone is welcome!
